Deep Paint® 2 (DP) is a great now free program that has been superceded by
Deep Paint® 3D. Deep Paint® 2 is capable
of 2D operations with limited 3D application.
Initial testing indicates DP substantially works in W2K/XP/Vista/Windows 7. The program is very straight forward at install, it has endless capability for tweaking but is rather
complicated when adding brushes,etc.
Some hints are presented here on how to use the program.
To retain the lighting and texture effects of a painting done in Deep Paint, when saving as a jpg, first save the file in Photoshop format (psd) then immediately save it as a jpg file. Presto,
all lighting and texture effects are there. Try it and see if it works for you. If you try saving as a jpg first you will get a message saying that lighting effects will not be preserved.
You can delete the photoshop file since it will not have these effects, however, the psd file will have all the layers intact. This can be useful for creating some interesting effects in

Add Textures: - Start with loading one of the brushes that have a texture applied, I suggest any of the ones in the texture paints category.
- Switch to the Brush properties (F6) > Click the + sign next to "Textures"
- Click the + Sign next to Texture Channels > Click on the File button, and load the tile that you want to use.
- To save this brush, click on the "Save as button at the top of the command panel. Give it the name you want.
Note: This tip is enough to get you on the right track but is missing some detail. "Making new texture brushes for deep paint"
Texture Problem: Sometimes the install does NOT allow the "Textures" to work. The problem is that the file paths are incorrect or missing. Under Textures -> Texture Channels you can manually
fix the paths and then the textures will start to work. Every individual file path must be corrected to get the full set.
